Telephone Customer Service – 10 Tips To Make It Great

How many times have you called a telephone customer service line and been told to wait several minutes. When you do manage to get through, you felt like your complaint wasn’t taken seriously? Disappointing customer service is not new. Now apply the same thing to the business you own or are running. Are your customers and clients getting quality telephone service from you and your staff? Do you put your customers on hold for a long time? Are your phone customer service representatives able to answer customer questions and respond to complaints or issues in an appropriate and timely manner? Even if you are primarily conducting your transactions and communications with customers and clients online, it is still important to have a quality phone customer service in place for most businesses. There are times when issues are much easier and more quickly resolved on the phone rather than online using e-mail, instant messaging or live chat programs.
Providing quality telephone customer service is essential to the success of any business. A lot of companies boast of having great customer service, but few actually do. Below are some ways you can improve and provide quality phone service to your customers. The overall principles of these points apply whether you manage an offline business or an eBiz.
1. Be friendly on the phone. Don’t be rude with your customers and make them feel like they’re wasting your time.
2. Don’t put a customer on hold without asking them if doing so is all right. No customer wants to hear, “Please hold” as soon as their call gets through, even before they can say hello. It gives the impression that their call is less important than another call you are taking.
3. Even though customers can’t see you, pay attention to how you conduct yourself over the phone. Be professional. The customer on the other end of the line can hear you if you’re chewing, smoking, or drinking while on call.
4. Listen attentively to the customer. Don’t make them repeat themselves. Let the customer finish what they have to say instead of interrupting him. Don’t give your customers the impression that you are incompetent. It’s not good if a customer has to repeat his problem three times to three different customer service representative before it can get resolved.
Home Business Success in 22 Steps

INTRODUCTION
Fifty million home-based businesses will be operational, in 1997, according to Link Resource’s National Work-at-Home Study. Across the country, people who want more control over their lives (at home and at work) are starting home businesses.
In New Orleans, Louisiana, Rick Hart’s home based Cajun Cargo ships seafood nationwide. In Palatine, Illinois, Stephaine Heavey works from home designing and selling original patterns for cloth dolls. And in Dallas, Texas, Lisa McElya published the Dallas Party & Event Planners Guidebook from the entire first floor of her two-story home.
These three people are living the American dream of owning a new company and their own business, but without the burden and overhead cost of having a physical business location. Virtual or Internet businesses are ideal because their start-up cost or initial investment to get set-up tend to be much lower. For example and in general, online affiliate marketing businesses do not require anything more than an Internet connection and perhaps a website. If the idea of working from home is appealing to you, but you do not know where to start, then here is your step by step guide brought to you by CompuLinear Software’s iMarketing Group.
STEP #1 DECIDE WHAT PART OF THE HOUSE TO USE
Select an area away from family activity, noise, and distractions. The perfect space is a separate room (or perhaps the garage, basement, or attic). Almost any area will do if it can accommodate all of your business supplies and equipment; in addition, you will need to provide enough workspace for computer hardware, desks, tables, etc.
STEP #2 DETERMINE HOW MUCH TIME YOU CAN SPEND ON THE BUSINESS
Many people start a home-based business on a part-time basis while raising children or working outside their home. Others start fulltime when family and finances allow or have been forced to do so in light of the recent recession, massive layoffs, and corporate downsizing here in the United States. However you begin, you must have a plan first and foremost; you will need to figure out how may hours per week you can devote to your new business; and how much seed money you have for your budding business venture. This is where a business plan and a little later a marketing plan are required. Make a weekly chart (see Step #22) of your activities so that you can examine it to determine where your niche business fits into the grand scheme of the marketplace. Do not assume that you will have time to devote to your new business only to discover later on that you that do not. Any new business requires commitment of one’s time especially if you are the sole proprietor who dons many hats daily!

1. Success doesn’t happen overnight.
For some reason people think that they should become rich in a few months with their new home business and some people believe success should happen within weeks or days! We introduced a man in his early 50′s to our business and he was excited. When we first met he complained that he had been working hard for more than 30 years and he was broke.
He said he never had any time for himself or his family. We told him what it would take to become successful and he agreed to do it. Then, he disappeared. A few weeks later he called to tell me that he was quitting. He hadn’t even started and here he was ready to give up.
We asked him if he would be better off quitting his full-time job and keeping his home business! Of course, we didn’t really mean that he should quit his job, but he had been working full-time for more than 30 years and he was still broke. He started his home business just a few weeks earlier and he never gave it a chance.
Why is it that so many people think that they should become wealthy in a few weeks? The answer probably lies in all the get rich quick schemes that are so prevalent in our society today. Opportunities for Enterpreneurs With a Home Based Business Online

Everywhere you turn now days, you always hear about venturing into entrepreneurship. But what is entrepreneurship exactly? It is actually defined as the process where in a group or an individual makes an effort to pursue opportunities to satisfy needs and wants through uniqueness and innovation.
Some people mistakenly do not believe that entrepreneurs are gamblers in the sense that they take risks and invest in industries that have no record of success. However, the truth is, these entrepreneurs take calculated risks that have the potential to provide them with huge returns.
The key factors you need to remember about entrepreneurship are opportunities, innovation, and growth. An entrepreneur sees opportunities and changes that nobody has seen before and pursues this opportunity with whatever resources he has at hand.
The second theme in entrepreneurship is innovation, which involves transforming and revolutionizing existing products or services to cope up with the changing global environment.
The third theme is growth; this involves the continual efforts of an entrepreneur to expand his business locally and internationally. An entrepreneur is on the constant look out on how to create new wayes to make his business grow and become a huge success.
These themes are the key factors which businesses are founded upon. The largest corporations you find today did not start out big, rather they started out as small enterprises by visionaries who want more than what is offered to them. You can see from the history of some of the most successful business today that the founders of these businesses have taken great leaps of faith and incredible amounts of risks in order to be what they are today.
You can look wherever you want and you will see the results of entrepreneurship. But it is most obvious in Home-based Business because this is a new industry. Some of the riches names in the world were unheard of before they took risks and were able to succeeded. So whether we realize it or not, it is the entrepreneurs who drive the global environment now a days. They are the ones who are always seeking out opportunities and taking risks to improve our world and profit from it in return.
How to Become a Successful Online Entrepreneur
There is no doubt that many people would like to know exactly how to become a successful online entrepreneur
For a start let us take a look at the dictionary definition of entrepreneur. I think we need to be clear about what exactly an entrepreneur is before going any further.
Cambridge dictionaries online define an entrepreneur as someone who starts their own business, especially when this involves risks
So there is no confusion here. It is very clear. If you start your own business you are an entrepreneur but it does seem to have to also include an element of risk.
You could argue that any new business involves risk and that is certainly true, but successful entrepreneurs are willing to take much greater risks than your average new business starter
How exactly do you become a successful entrepreneur?
Well that has to be the million dollar question. If there were a prescribed and reliable formula, we would all be multi millionaires. There would be no risk and so paradoxically, perhaps no more entrepreneurs!
There are certain characteristics that successful entrepreneurs seem to possess, such as total dedication.
So what drives an entrepreneur and what makes them different to most other people? What is their vision compared to mere mortals?
For certain there are a number of qualities they all share and without them, they would probably not be entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurial qualities
You could say that any person willing to work hard at their own business is an entrepreneur but it has to be more than that. Many people try unsuccessfully to make it on their own, and many, in fact most fail, often just giving up because their efforts do not produce the hoped for results quickly enough
The true entrepreneur is remorseless in the pursuit of their goal. It is as much about achievement as it is about money but the money, as you might guess, is the real proof of success.
Entrepreneurialism has making money at its heart but the means to achieving this is almost incidental.
You could sum up the major qualities of a successful entrepreneur as follows
A successful entrepreneur thinks outside the box and is never satisfied with mediocrity in any part of their life
A successful entrepreneur is not necessarily obsessive, but is extremely highly motivated and committed to achieving their goal
The journey will be determined by its likelihood of success, not because it is enjoyable or laudable (although it might be either or both). Ultimately the enjoyment is in the success
All successful entrepreneurs leverage the efforts of others. This is a good and beneficial thing as long as it does not involve exploitation
No obstacle (short of death maybe) is too difficult to overcome. Where there is a will, there is a way. It is all in the mindset!
There is no giving up even when the way is fraught with setbacks. Expect them
The successful entrepreneur will do whatever it takes to reach the goal even if it means starting again
The successful entrepreneur must be able to handle both risk and stress. If not, burn out is extremely likely
So where does that leave you?
